Scholarship Stories Update:
Bryant Howard is a 2020 graduate of the University of South Florida in Tampa. He was a four-year recipient of the FSPA Scholarship Award and is now starting his engineering career. When reflecting on his time in college he can’t help but feel ‘blessed’ for what the scholarship has allowed him to achieve in his academics and profession.
While studying electrical engineering Bryant achieved many things, such as being a part of a 10-week internship at Power Design Inc., an engineering firm that builds high-rise hotels and apartment buildings.
While in the final semester of college Bryant secured and accepted a position on the Space Coast of Florida working at RS&H – a multifaceted corporation that works in and supports the aerospace industry.
Bryant recently passed his Engineering Intern exams, explaining “after I become an Engineering Intern, I’ll be on track to be a PE (Professional Engineer) in 4 years.”
Bryant credits the FSPA Scholarship with playing an important role with his successes.
“The FSPA Scholarship is a peace-of-mind type of thing,” said Bryant. “To get support from the FSPA feels more psychical than monetary because I know I have a whole group of people who support me and believe in me.”
In 2019 the FSPA gave over $34,000 in scholarship awards.
“Scholarships are so important,” said Bryant. “With tuition, rent and books increasing each year, it’s comforting knowing that I have a decent amount of money from the FSPA that I can tap into.”
