Q: When is the 2021 Florida Legislative Session? Why is the session at a different time every year?

A: The 2021 Florida Legislative Session started on March 2 and
will run through April 30. In odd-numbered years following an election year, the
legislature convenes for 60 days from March until late April or early May. In
even-numbered years the legislature convenes for 60 days in January and runs
through the midpoint of March. The session starts later in odd years to allow enough time for the organization session
and preliminary committee hearing to take place prior to the start of session which
cannot take place in the fall because of ongoing legislative elections.
